Portland means more than coffee. The City of Portland—affectionately known as the City of Roses, Bridgetown, Little Beirut, P-Town, Rip City, Stump Town, Razorblade City, and PDX—has a culture, life, and appeal all its own. Portland and Portlanders have an aura of the edgy culture about them, probably because the city is host to some of the cutting-edge crust punk and anarchist groups. But Portland isn’t just defined by its counterculture. The city is an endless trove of interest, beauty, arts, roses, breweries, shopping, and amazing cuisine—not to mention coffee.
Portland is a city of DIYs. We build our own homes. We maintain our own homes. We remodel our own homes. And what we’ve done is worth being proud of. Our homes exemplify the free-spirited independence that characterizes our city. They are monuments to their owner’s dreams, aspirations, and values. Sure, Portland is more than coffee. It’s about the people that live there…the people and their homes. Wait a second! I smell some coffee brewing right now. Come to think of it, it’s coming from my house.
