New K3 Wind and Solar Charger

Here's a solar charger that swings both ways. The K3 charger from Kinesis Industries is the newest solution for all the off-the-grid moments in life, moments apparently unlivable without a cell phone, mp3 player, camera or other digital age device. And thanks to the K3 and other solar chargers, there's no need to panic, your iTunes will be with you all the way down the trail.

The K3 offers something new to the mix: a hybrid charger. Scratch that... a tri-brid charger, able to collect energy from the sun, the wind and an AC electrical outlet. The K3 wind and solar charger looks like some odd sort of solar-powered fan, but it's much more diverse. According to the manufacturer, it also has the largest rechargeable battery capacity in its class and will charge a cell phone five times over.

Other features include: a USB port for charging most any modern device and for collecting charge from a computer or car cigarette lighter, LED charge level indicators, built-in storage for the K3's custom adapter tips, and a stand-up-lay-down-hang-from design for use in any situation.

The most obvious advantage to me about a hybrid charger is its ability to charge during the night... a breezy night anyway.

The K3 will soon be available online through the Kinesis website, retailing at $99.95. Special iGo adapter tips for charging any number of devices will also be available from $9.99 to $14.99.
