Quick Front Entry Fixes

Some easy exterior fixes in the front entry can spruce up your home’s curb appeal and make it a little more energy efficient. New shutters and planter boxes in the front window will add an instant attraction to the eye AND they’re easy to install. Another smart option is a new door. This insulates your home better and makes it more inviting. This project may be better suited for a handyman or contractor, but once the job is finished, you’ll never regret it. Here are some other quick fixes to a home’s front entry.

  • Add some hanging plants on the porch and planter boxes in the front windows. You can paint the boxes or add decorative stenciling if you like. The length of the boxes should match the windows above. These boxes will also need proper drainage to produce healthy plants and flowers. Make sure to get the right sun or shade plants for the boxes and add fertilizer on top for faster growth. All supplies should be available at local home improvement stores or garden nurseries.
  • Containers for larger plants are great in concert with planter boxes and new shutters. These can be placed strategically on the porch or leading up the door. This adds a little more color and warmth to the home. Remember to keep larger pots near the back and smaller containers up front.
  • If you already have an established flower bed or pathway garden, add accessories items. Solar lanterns and small garden statues are inviting and add character to the home’s new entry way.
