700 local Buffalo designers come together in a tribute to architect E.B. White

What better way to showcase the talent of Buffalo, New York’s brilliant designers, builders, craftsmen and architects than to bring them together in one fabulous dream house? With creativity bursting at the seams, 700 such volunteers dedicated their expertise in order to pay homage to the famed architect E.B. White. The end-result was an immaculately decorated home with enough power to turn anyone into a design buff.

The kitchen, dreamt up by Murchison Interiors, Ltd. and Krislyn Design Co., was created with a bit of nostalgia in mind while still incorporating the quality and convenience of modern-day design. A smart storage system added by Creative Storage wraps through to the adjacent pantry. A separate space was created for everything from shopping bags to serving trays. In addition, Calcutta Gold marble helped bring a touch of elegance to the cozy feel.

Stepping away from the bright color palette utilized in the kitchen area, the foyer combined rich browns and grays for a more serious luxurious feel. DK Benson designed this space, adding an extra sitting room with a masculine charcoal hemp sofa from the CR Laine collection.

Balancing out the masculinity of the foyer is a fantastic living room by Karen Bialkowski of Kittinger Gallery. Complete with posh Hollywood glam, the room’s piano and dramatic silk chaise highlight the super-chic feel. Special attention was paid to color in order to amp up the interest in the room.

Next up is a meditation room created by the Interior Design students at Villa Maria College located right here in Buffalo. A palette of soothing earth-inspired tones brings a sense of serenity to the space, as well as the bamboo plants, orchids and sand. Yoga students and meditators alike can find everything they need in this space.

The master bedroom by Ethan Allen was also intended as a subtle nod to nature with contrasting wood tones, natural fiber fabrics and cork wallpaper. Crimson accents in the pillows and area rugs add drama to an otherwise relaxing space.

With so much talent behind every aspect of this home’s design, was there really any way that it couldn’t have been a success? I don’t think so.
