Seattleite’s Kitchen Remodel Triples Views of Puget Sound

From Margaret Everton on December 18, 2009 in Seattle

Seattle, the Emerald City, holds a lot of distinctives-breathtaking mountain scenery, abundant annual rainfall, high percentage of college-educated adults, ocean breezes from Puget Sound…and, of course, great coffee. Seattleites need homes that reflect the essence of their city—homes that somehow capture those distinctives into attractive and comfortable living spaces. Steve’s new kitchen Steve's newly remodeled seattle kitchen Steve Dunn, of Shoreline, needed a new kitchen. Steve’s desire was to make his kitchen a place more inviting for friends and guests. Besides, the kitchen’s strategic location facing southwest had the potential for a priceless view of the Sound, but not enough window space to make it happen. There was no way he was going to pass that up. In order to unleash his passion for nature-inspired airiness, socially-inviting spaces and mod décor with a touch of luxury, he called Westhill Inc. Design/Build. The company’s 35-year legacy of revolutionizing ordinary Seattle houses into homes extraordinaire was just what Steve needed. Before renovation the old kitchen Westhill brought the creative prowess of interior designer Kristina Fowler into the task, and together they crafted a marvelous display of natural light, rich interior tones and splashes of playful color. The kitchen is all about windows, particularly skylights, floor-to-ceiling windows, high windows and French doors. In this way, a view of Puget Sound becomes the kitchen’s main attraction. The kitchen’s social hub is the new-and-improved island—granite-topped, devoid of appliances, spread with bar chairs and a composed of a sweeping curve that matches the windowed corner. The entire kitchen received a complete makeover, from the new Brazilian cherry wood floors to the granite countertops and beveled limestone subway tile. The kitchen says “Seattle life” all over it. And Steve? He couldn’t be happier. It’s the kind of work that characterizes Westhill. In order to ensure that clients get exactly what they want, the company uses state-of-the-art software to create your virtual remodel job, let you look at it in 3-D detail, and decide what you want changed. By investing the best in their staff, Westhill has one of the most courteous, helpful and professional teams in the Puget Sound region. via Seattle Homes & Lifestyles
