Jim Loehr is the local go-to guy for stone and tile in Sacramento. As co-owner of both the Natural Stone Design Gallery and Sherman-Loehr Custom Tile Works, he knows whats up when it comes to beautiful stonework. So when he and his wife Joyce decided their master bedroom needed a little revamping, it seemed only appropriate that a selection of his company materials would go on display in a big way.
The couple partnered with interior designer Kerrie Kelly of Kerrie Kelly Design Lab (she and Jim worked together on about 6,800 of the Del Webb Sun City development houses in Lincoln Hills) to create a space that balanced masculine charm with feminine beauty.
The focal point of the room, quite fittingly, is a display of 24 limestone squares that reflect the design of the entry floor. Color variations make this piece more a work of art than a tiled wall.
Joyce set her sights on a vanity with comfortable seating and a makeup mirror. She also added her own personal touch with a four poster bed she had been storing in their garage, unused. The couple added a knickknack of their choosing to their own nightstands a picture of his hometown in Montana and a zebra print plus music box for her.
Once completed, this charming master bedroom was equal parts bold and delicate, a combination not too easy to come by.
