A Remodel to Grow with Time

atlanta classic remodelRemodeling a home for a young couple whose lives are expected to continue changing in the years to come usually proves a bit of a challenge. Luckily for Atlanta couple Mayer and Beau Buisson, their family-friend and interior designer Barbara Howard was able to use her personal connection to the couple to guide them in the right direction.

The Buissons had called on Howard a few years earlier to see if she could provide some designer touches for their current place of residence. She had declined, telling them that they would be far happier with the results if they waited until they could afford an entire design revamp. So when the couple moved into their new Buckhead home, they followed her advice.

Howard was pleasantly surprised to find that the layout of their newly purchased home was perfect for what they needed and wouldn’t have to undergo any major renovations. What’s more? The cream colored paint already on the walls meant that the only thing left to do was bring in some furniture and decorative touches.

Working together, the team settled on a classic design that could grow with the couple without becoming outdated. The color palette was kept neutral and soft, but a variety of materials were juxtaposed together in order to add interest. For instance, a stone table base was given a wood top, while a settee was upholstered in both cotton and wood.

Each of the rooms was designed to be multi-purpose, allowing for both entertaining and quiet nights alone. In the end there was a perfect balance of formality and laid-back comfort, and that is just what a young couple needs.
