In 1958, Maurice Milgard, Jr. and his son Gary launched Milgard Glass Company in Tacoma, Washington, to take advantage of what they correctly saw as an emerging boom in the aluminum window business. Another son, Jim, joined the company a few years later.

Within a few years Gary started Milgard Manufacturing to fabricate high-quality aluminum windows; later came Milgard Tempering, to manufacture tempered glass needed for the company's windows, and Milgard Vinyl, with a state-of-the-art extrusion system for vinyl frames.

Now a part of publicly traded Masco Corporation, Milgard Windows is the largest window manufacturer in the Western U.S., employing over 4,500 people and serving customers around the country and the Pacific Rim.
