Safety is the number one concern when selecting pool paver materials. While concrete, brick and stone may all be utilized for poolside pavers, it is important that the finish of the paver be non-slip.
When you are selecting pavers for use around your pool, keep in mind that the sun’s reflection from very light pavers can be too bright to the eye and dark colors can be quite hot to the touch, so select pavers that run in the middle of these two extremes to take care of these two issues.
Maintaining Colored Pool Pavers
It is usually advisable when using colored concrete pavers, that they be sealed. The color pigments contained in the concrete are known to fade, due to excessive sun and water damage. Also, if colored pavers are used for pool coping, a sealant is also then required.

When choosing pool pavers, ask your installer to make sure that the pavers are slip resistant, water resistant, comfortable to the touch in bright sunlight, fade-resistant, salt water resistant (if yours is a salt water pool) and resistant to chlorine damage.
Concrete Pool Pavers
The benefits to concrete pool pavers include the fact that they are smooth, and resistant to salt, slipping, and fading from chlorine. In addition, concrete pool pavers do not need to be sealed. And they come in a variety of shapes, colors, sizes and may be laid in a variety of patterns.
Brick Pool Pavers
Brick pavers are not affected by chlorine, smooth in texture and slip resistant.
Stone Pool Pavers
Stone pool pavers come from quarries and are naturally occurring materials and often come in a variety of colors, They may be sealed to ensure that they are resistant to slips, salt water and chlorine.

You should have your pool area cleaned regularly with a power hose and sealed, if necessary, with the right type of sealant for your pavers.
