Glass paving stones offer something very unique in the realm of indoor and outdoor flooring: transparency. While extra care and expense to ensure strength is necessary for glass pavers meant to be tread upon, they offer other advantages, such as the possibility of being lit from underneath (indoor primarily).
Glass pavers meant for outdoor use are manufactured to handle freezing and thawing, as well as the oft harsh wear and tear inherent to life among the elements. They are also typically sand blasted to make them more slip resistant and come in a variety of colors, quite literally offering their own special gleam.
Glass pavers are non-permeable and therefore moisture resistant. They have an incredible ability to hold up against heat, cold, UV-rays, and fire. Being moisture resistant also makes glass stain resistant and therefore relatively low maintenance compared to other stone pavers, which will need regular sealing. When cleaning, a damp cloth or mop should easily handle everyday dirt and debris. For tougher build-ups, you can also use acid/water mixtures without hesitation.
Recycled glass pavers are an even more eco-friendly option. Often made primarily from glass bottles, some manufacturers take advantage of that fact by leaving small, colorful shards of the recycled glass exposed within the mold, creating a unique glint.
