Remote control switches offer the epitome of couch potato convenience. With these handy little gadgets you need not leave the comfort of the recliner to turn the light on or off. There are even remote controls with dimmer settings. Remote control light switches are often used in conjunction with ceiling fans so that you can simultaneously control light and fan levels.
Instead of a typical switch you will have a control module. More advanced systems will have remotes that can control an entire home’s worth of lighting. There are also lamp modules which you plug lamps into, then the modules themselves plug into the wall. These modules act as receivers for the remote controls, allowing convenient control over any light in the house.
Remote control systems can be very expensive depending on the extent of their control. Simple, single light modules can cost as little as $20, but more sophisticated models can cost well over $100.
