Light Up Your Ceiling Fan

A ceiling fan is a great addition to any room, but what if the fan needs some lights? The easiest way to upgrade a ceiling fan with lights is to buy a new fan that comes with lights. If that’s not an option, then here’s a step-by-step procedure to install a light kit to the fan.

Step 1: Turn off the power to the fan at the circuit breaker.

Step 2:  A light kit will require some new wiring. Make sure the bottom of your fan pops open to accept connecting wiring from the light kit.

Step 3: The new wiring needs to be threaded through the bottom of the fan housing. After the wiring is threaded into the fan base, attach the kit to the base of the fan housing. The kit should screw directly into the base without any additional parts.

Step 4: Wire the kit to the fan housing. Parallel wiring calls for connections between like color wires. For example: Light kit black connects to fan black or blue, light kit white connects to fan white. Make sure to tighten connections with wiring nuts.

Step 5:  Now that you’ve attached the light kit to the fan housing, wire this unit to the fan’s source of power, which is ceiling electrical box.

Step 6: In the final step. Make sure to insert the right wattage of bulb, the correct watts are printed on the side of the socket. Be careful as you get the globe in place over the light, you’ll need to back off the tightening screws to make room for the globe. Once the glass sphere is in place, then proceed to tighten the screws. For additional help please check out the video instruction on the link below or consult your local electrician.

Here is what has been said about our Electrical Contractors:

I would like to say a few words of praise concerning Mark with Pyne Construction. Mark Pyne came through for us when no one else would. We were in a situation where we needed to sell my mothers home and had a bundle of construction issues that most contractors couldn't bother with. He not only took the work on but gave us Top Notch quality to boot. I would not hesitate to work with him again and I recommend him to anyone who has a project that requires quality and prompt attention.

This is just a quick note to thank you for your excellent work on my new bathroom. The custom shower is exactly what I wanted, and the remodeling utilizes the limited space perfectly. Again, thanks.
