Green Building & Energy-Efficient Retrofit

It is easy to jump on buzzwords and phrases such as LEED or Green Building, but what does it all exactly mean? To find out, Wespac decided to take matters in our own hands – and go through the process from start to finish –through role as the Owner. With the goal of building Wespac’s corporate office more “sustainably,” Wespac became a certified APS and SRP Alliance Member, and discovered the amount of energy rebates we were eligible for as it relates to solar paneling, energy efficient lighting, and various other systems.

Energy Efficient Options include:

  • Solar Panel Installation
  • Dual-flush, low-flow handles in restrooms
  • Lighting Upgrades
  • HVAC Upgrades
  • Solar Water Heater Installation

The sustainable office improvements of Wespac Construction were a multiple-step process. First, employees were educated in green building practices and trained in the LEED Accreditation and Certification Process. Secondly, sustainable philosophies were extended to Wespac’s current projects with jobsite recycling as well future planning and sustainable design implementation with the owner. As a qualified partner with both the APS Solutions for Business Trade Ally and the SRP Energy Efficiency Alliance programs, our team is available to consult on energy efficient retrofit options that will reduce energy costs and reliance on fossil fuels. Our team will evaluate existing systems and home conditions and recommend energy cost savings, alternatives and rebates to improve the quality of your home’s lifecycle. If you are interested in creating a home environment that is more energy efficient, or would be interested in gauging your home with a LEED™ Scorecard Assessment & Cost Analysis, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Home Reconstruction & Reconditioning Case Study (Foreclosed Home)

Wespac recently completed an extensive renovation on an older home in Fountain Hills, AZ. The house had been abandoned while going through a complete home renovation and when the current Owner purchased it as a foreclosure, it had had been empty for over a year – with significant disrepair cosmetically and structurally. Now at the time of purchase, the Homeowner has two options: One, he can hire numerous private contractors (to repair the roof, HVAC, kitchen & bathrooms, drywall, exterior patios and balcony restructuring just to name a few.) Or two, he can hire Jim and the team of experts at Wespac to manage all repairs – from preconstruction to the final punchlist – complete with competitive pricing, budget analysis, value recommendations, complete scheduling and management services. The Owner chose Option #2, and here’s what he had to say about it:

“When we met with Jim Zodrow from Wespac he turned all that around and gave us “can do “attitude that we had not experienced with other contractors. From the first minute of meeting, the relationship was collaborative, respectful and fun. The completion of the project was on time and without surprises.

“My family and I would like to offer our whole-hearted appreciation to Wespac Construction, Jim, Chris and Mark for the support and professionalism we experienced during the entire project. From the initial planning and pricing to the final days of completing our punch list, the team was enthusiastic, energetic, honest, and knowledgeable. In addition, the crew and subcontractors were punctual, pleasant, and highly skilled. The work was completed in a timely fashion, and the results are better than we ever imagined. You cannot assign a dollar figure to the peace of mind that we felt with Chris and Mark working on our project. We highly recommend Wespac to everyone, and would welcome the opportunity to work with Jim in the future. Thank you, Wespac for making our home a reality!”

Occupied Home Renovation Case Study

Wespac recently completed an Occupied Remodel of the master bath and bedroom of a Phoenix home. A few situations posed some challenge in successfully completing this particular home’s improvements. One, the owner’s had previously remodeled another portion of their house with a different contractor who had overpromised and under delivered. The Owners knew the master bath and bedroom remodel project was even more sensitive with a toddler being in the house and needed a contractor that would make life easier for them. Wespac was up to the challenge and finished everything and more for another extremely satisfied client. Another challenge - the clients were expecting another child and needed it complete before the new addition arrived. Due to the health concerns for the mother, the construction areas and ventilation were completely sealed off from the rest of the home, and the areas were 100% secured for the safety of their toddler. The project resulted in a complete success; beautifully renovated master bedroom/bathroom and a tremendously happy family.

“We are very happy with the way the project turned out – it was such a HUGE improvement. We really enjoyed working with Marc Sullivan. He is a terrific guy and did great work for us. Thanks for all of your hard work, patience and persistence with this project”
