According to Tim Blackwell, President and CEO of OneWorld Sustainable, solar energy provides the technology for sustainable living. Though Blackwell admits that living 100 percent sustainably is an impossible task, he is committed to reaching as close as possible to that ideal. With the help of Blackwell's efforts, OneWorld Sustainable is considered a forerunner among energy consultants and system integrators. The company provides PV, wind, and micro-hydro generations systems, energy efficient audits, and green building renovations. It also has a solar water heating division.
Blackwell began putting the OneWorld concept together in 2001, following 9/11. The company was incorporated in June of 2002. Today, the company encourages sustainable development throughout the global community. OneWorld has trade linkages in Kenya, where the company installed solar energy systems for families, business owners, schools, and clinics to provide lighting, TV and radio operation, and energy for vaccine refrigeration for marginalized communities. The company also received a $20,000 grant from the state of Georgia to develop a Solar School pilot program.
