G Family Inc. services Marin County and San Francisco residents with the following projects:

• Major remodels, including whole house gut and redesign.
• Small remodels, such as kitchens or bathrooms .
• House additions, including digging out basements and adding additional stories below.
• Replacing entire foundations and installing total house drainage systems.
• House restorations, including matching custom trim and woodwork. (We have received an award for one of our houses in San Rafael.)
• Custom decks, fences, and gates. We can design them with the owner to save time and money on architectural costs.
• Window and door installation and all carpentry-based projects.

Company History and Philosophies

G Family Construction, or Grabham Family Construction, was founded over 30 years ago by our father, James Grabham. During that period, he perfected the art of carpentry & fine craftsmanship. All three Grabham boys (David, Jon, and Jim Jr.) served as apprentices to their father and excelled in the trade. In 1998, James passed away and the company was dissolved.

The brothers then spent the next 3 years working for multiple construction companies, gaining the experience to become highly skilled carpenters. In 2001, Jon and David decided to form G Family, Inc and display the knowledge and experience that they had mastered in their youth. Starting with decks & fences, they worked from one referral to the next. Word of mouth was their only form of advertisement. At the heart of their work was integrity and the hunger for excellence in all that they put their hands on.

During the next 5 years, G Family, Inc. grew by leaps and bounds. Always pushing their craft to the limits, they earned a reputation for the highest quality work in the industry. Jon and David have more field experience than most and by working as a team, they cover twice the amount of hands on site supervision. While most contractors only make it out to the job site to meet with the client, Jon and David oversee each project from start to finish. This enables them to catch errors in the construction process much sooner than most contractors who stay in the office. This also assures quality and safety control at the heart of the project.

Continuing the legacy that James Grabham set forth over 30 years ago, the brothers have hand selected apprentices of their own. All G Family employees demonstrate the same qualities that are the foundation of the G Family company. By spending one-on-one time training each employee, we are assured that the standard of quality that we expect from them is achieved. Beside the time spent at work together, all G Family employees get together regularly for BBQs, birthdays, and other personal events to build a sense of brotherhood throughout the company.

Today G Family Inc. is still pushing the envelope on possibility. Teaming the newest technology in the industry, of both materials and tools with the most basic philosophy of hard work, G Family Inc. is making dreams come true one job at a time.

Using Products and Systems that Stand the Test of Time

 From the time that we turned 5, we were helping our father on the job. Over the years, we have seen what products and systems work and stand the test of time. We take extra care to ensure that every one of our projects gets the most trusted and tried products on the market and techniques in the construction world.

That is not to say that we aren't constantly improving and testing new techniques as the needs of construction are always changing. We also have a very personal relationship with our sub's and suppliers who recommend only the best quality products for use on our jobs. Also, because we work in the residential business and most of the time our clients are living in the home that we are working in, we are trained in dust control and seal off the affected areas of work to keep the rest of the house contaminant free.  

Working With and For Our Clients

As general contractors, Jon and David spend more hands-on time at the site to assure that the project is running smoothly and the client is up-to-date with any changes or complications to the project. We also spend a large amount of time interacting with our clients to assure they are getting exactly what they want. The key aspect to keeping our work professional is constant communication with our clients throughout the project.

Especially during this time in our economy, budget is always at the top of our clients' list. By taking extra time in the design process and going over the entire project from start to finish with our clients, we can get a real sense of how much the project is going to cost and alternatives that we can use to save money. That little extra time before the start of the project can also really help to catch any problems that might arise during the construction process.

Both owners of the company are born creators. The reason why we got into the construction business is because building is our passion. We love realizing our clients' dreams. There is truly nothing more amazing than to see a project come together in the end, like someone painting a masterpiece, and to have our client with a huge smile on their face is the signature at the bottom of the painting.
