American Design and Build president, Joseph A. Tunney, founded the company after having been in the remodeling industry for over ten years. What he discovered during that time was a disturbing trend: homeowners were continually getting the runaround, and rather than having their homes improved, uncaring firms applied the band-aid approach, temporarily mending problems with less-than-stellar solutions that only lasted through a one-year installation warranty period.

Joseph decided to change all this in 1993, when his wife encouraged him to start a company of his own. This is when American Design and Build was born. His goals for the company

• To deliver customer satisfaction with quality service
• To return to the era of quality products and pride in workmanship
• To give homeowners what they invest their hard-earned money in, performing the job right the first time around

Joseph says, "The concept was simple – offer the highest quality windows, doors, siding and sunrooms. In addition, have each of those installed only by experts in each of their respected fields. Offer the products at the lowest possible price, and support the products, labor and materials, for as long as the manufacturers' warranty. In other words, the product would perform as promised now and in the future and there would never be a charge for service."

Today, American Design and Build has earned a stellar reputation from homeowners who want their friends and relatives to experience remodeling – the right way. Though the company grown, moving from a home dining room to a 6,500 square foot state-of-the-art showroom, the original concept of making remodeling a unique and pleasurable experienced has not changed.
