Move over, tinfoil. Clean-tech company RavenBrick has developed a more stylish solution to blocking out window heat and saving energy year-round. ravenbrick smart window How does it work, exactly? Using their own unique technology, the company designed a reflective film to cover any window pane. The film can then recognize the outside temperature and either darken and reflect the heat if it’s too warm, or remain neutral and transfer heat inside if it’s cold. Because the product requires no electricity, installation and subsequent operating costs are little to none. When in use, it saves up to 50 percent of a home’s electricity costs. The company also says it’s easy to install and can be retrofitted onto existing buildings. No more baking in the heat for me. I’ll be jumping on this bandwagon as soon as it comes my way.
