Danish immigrant Hans Andersen and his family moved to America and founded the privately owned Andersen Windows in 1903. From the beginning, the company focused on innovations that kept it at the forefront of the industry. In 1932, the Andersen master casement window became the first completely assembled window unit—sash, frame, and hardware together—and became an industry classic.

Through the decades—and, now, over a century of production—Andersen windows has continued to look to what new awareness it can bring to the industry.

Currently, Andersen is placing a large focus on their respect for the environment. From their production processes and facilities to their product quality, Andersen is looking to keep a good balance between production and efficiency. They support major environmental initiatives, such as Alliance to Save Energy, Energy Star, Forest Stewardship Council and Green Seal, among others.

But why Andersen Windows?

Several factors contribute to Andersen’s window performance. A few features include:

  • Low-E glass to protect your interior and furniture from UV rays
  • Natural wood to create a timeless combination of durability and beauty
  • Tough protective window shells that claim to never need painting
  • Efficient components to keep warm rooms warm and cool rooms cool
  • Owner-to-Owner limited warranty
  • Replacement parts available from windows as old as 50 years
  • Easy-to-install products like the 5 Minute Window Trim

Andersen employs their meticulous production of windows and doors in several kinds of windows, from awning, to bay, to double-hung, to transom, and more.

There has to be a drawback, right? Customer reviews that we’ve seen have mentioned the higher cost of the windows, but that the price matched exactly the quality they received. And the service was personalized and attentive. All in all, Andersen looks like a great option to consider.

It’s definitely worth giving some serious consideration to the purchase of new windows – there are plenty of factors to think about such as security, aesthetics, durability and energy efficiency. I hadn’t considered the need to block UV rays, so thanks for the info.
