If you’ve ever even thought about tackling a DIY project, then Sugru is for you. No—if you live in a home of any kind, then Sugru is for you. Whether you realize it or not, you will at some point need this miracle product. A sort of clay that hardens into flexible silicone, Sugru cures lots of home ails. From fixing cords to making your own hooks, this stuff is crazy cool.
When you first remove it from the pack, Sugru is like modeling clay. Once handled and exposed to air, however, it toughens to a flexible silicone overnight. Basically, you have 30 minutes before the 24-hour cure process begins. And yet, once it’s set, the material remains flexible, which means that you can repair things like textiles and cables.
Sugru can withstand temperatures from -60 degrees C to 180 degrees C. It won’t crack or melt. A quality silicone, the material is waterproof and therefore durable for outdoors. It even withstands seawater. And all you need is simple soap and water to clean it. It’s even dishwasher safe.
Sugru is designed to stick to basically anything. Forming a strong bond to aluminum, steel, ceramics, and glass and plastics, this miracle material is perfect for around the house and in any room in the house, for that matter.
This product is miraculous. Seriously futuristic and unique in its composition (thank you, inventor Jane Ni Dhulchaointigh). The only question remains: how many scenarios can we think up to use this for?
What would you use Sugru for in your own home? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
Thanks to our new friends at Dadand for the heads-up about this awesome home product.
