Hammer Time? Vanilla Ice Tries to Upstage Bob Villa

Move over, Bob Villa. In an unusual career switch, Vanilla Ice (aka Rob Van Winkle) is departing from both rap and reality television to don a hard hat and tool belt. Confused? Yeah, me too.

The one-hit wonder is set to be front and center in his own remodeling show airing on the DIY Network this October. But he’s not straying too far from his early ’90s image—the show is titled “The Vanilla Ice Project.”

vanilla ice remodel If you’re wondering what could possibly make him an expert on home remodeling, network representatives have this to reassure you: “Over the last 15 years, Rob has taught himself the basics of home improvement through hands-on experience. In each episode, Rob demonstrates his vast knowledge in home renovation…He calls the shots in this room-by-room home makeover series, exposing an entirely new side of the star – one that his fans have never seen before.”

Will this show be a success? That, my friends, remains to be seen.
