If a shaky market means selling isn’t in the cards yet, maybe it’s time for a revamp of what you already have. Kitchen remodeling is on the rise across the country. Make sure you know the current trends to keep your investment up to date.
#1 – What are YOU looking for in a kitchen?
Perhaps you watch TV while you cook and an entertainment center would work just wonderfully in your kitchen. Or you’re sick of all that extra clutter and would love some more storage. Homeowners are now looking for ways to have their kitchen fit their needs, which in turn can encourage a little extra cooking.
#2 – Hidden appliances
If your kitchen doubles as a gathering place, custom-fit your appliances within your cabinetry for a neat, streamlined aesthetic. Think of the benefits: no contrasting steel or plastic, you get to hide that unsightly dishwasher, and best of all, you expand the room for more than just cooking and cleaning.
#3 – Stone & classic elements
If you plan to sell down the road, it always helps to use classic materials—that way you know they won’t be going out of style anytime soon. There is one material making a comeback all over the country: stone. Not only will stone be around for years to come, but it looks great against a granite or laminate countertop as well.
#4 – Don’t stick to one material
Add interest to your space by mixing up the materials. Many homeowners today are using different types of cabinets or countertops and bringing them together in one intriguing, cohesive space.
Not quite ready to sell? Then invest in what you already have. The end result might just make you want to stay for years to come.
