Is That Your Skin or Cork Skin? Cool Kitchen Design Idea
From Kayla on April 29th, 2010 in Kitchen Remodel

Ever wonder what else cork can be used for besides sealing up your favorite wine? Yeah, I didn’t either, until I saw Corkutis – a strange looking skin that can be applied to any object needing a little extra protection.
Objects such as glass jars can be coated with a layer of latex and then coated with cork grains to prevent cracking. Or, if you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can coat your hand in the mixture to pull a burning-hot pan from the oven. Yeah, I didn’t think that was a good idea, either…

I doubt its practicality, but you can’t say it’s not innovative. The makers seem to view it more as an interesting art experiment than an everyday cooking solution. And it’s biodegradable and thus environment friendly. What else could you want? (Besides an actual oven mitt, of course.)
