Ever wonder what else cork can be used for besides sealing up your favorite wine? Yeah, I didnt either, until I saw Corkutis a strange looking skin that can be applied to any object needing a little extra protection.
Objects such as glass jars can be coated with a layer of latex and then coated with cork grains to prevent cracking. Or, if youre feeling extra adventurous, you can coat your hand in the mixture to pull a burning-hot pan from the oven. Yeah, I didnt think that was a good idea, either…
I doubt its practicality, but you cant say its not innovative. The makers seem to view it more as an interesting art experiment than an everyday cooking solution. And its biodegradable and thus environment friendly. What else could you want? (Besides an actual oven mitt, of course.)
