For lovers of exotic woods and unique accessories, Terra Furnishings is an exciting new kid on the block that you’ll want to meet. Terra Furnishings recently launched a website, joining the growing green movement with a product line of eco-friendly, handmade home furnishings and décor. All their products are 100% natural and made from organic resources.
The company’s collection consists of various home furnishings, including interesting “twist stools,” end tables, natural edge tables and benches, wall panels, farmed teak spa accessories, all manner of screens, framed mirrors, and – of course – much more.
The carved wood panel collection is especially striking and includes Asian motifs that feature mandalas, buddhas, birds, grape vines, and intricate carvings that transport you to places like Fiji and Bali in your imagination.
The selection of twist stools and end tables is notable for the interesting variety of styles and woods. Any one of these items would give a room a special one-of-a-kind feel because these pieces make a statement with their unusual shapes and hand-rubbed oil finishes.
Terra Furnishings is a new member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC), a non-profit balanced coalition of over 250 industry players created to promote sustainable practices among manufacturers, retailers, and consumers alike with a public tagging program to identify good choices.
SFC’s goals are to:
- Raise awareness of the sustainability issue
- Assist companies in adopting good practices
- Serve as an information clearing house
- Create a symbol of assurance for consumers
In a recent announcement, Terra Furnishings’ spokesperson said that, in keeping with its membership in the SFC, “Terra Furnishings is committed to bringing you eco-friendly home furnishings that are both stylish and functional, utilizing sustainable woods such as monkey pod (acacia), mango, and farmed and reclaimed teak. Environmentally sound pottery, glass, and jewelry items are carried as well.”
The company also features a blog created for “bringing you eco-friendly home furnishings and hoping to inspire you to a more earth-focused lifestyle.” In addition to posts about company news and products, you’ll find information and links to other eco-friendly websites and articles about sustainable décor and design.
