New Year’s Resolution: Renovate the House

From on January 5th, 2011 in General Remodel

With the New Year rolling in and offering a fresh start, you may have resolutions on your mind—including improving your living space. While honing your waterskiing skills may be something that can wait until summer, now is the time to think about home remodeling projects. In fact, winter is the best time of year to plan your improvements.

Because the best renovation work typically gets completed in the spring, now is the time to think ahead and plan your strategy. Talk to an architect to get down on paper the ideas that have been floating in your head. Work together to concretely plan what you’re wanting and what works for your specific lifestyle.

Keep in mind that the best renovations are the most personalized. Gather pictures and notes to help articulate your ideas—and look through online databases like our remodeling photo gallery, for inspiration. Let yourself fully brainstorm in this incubation stage before you are ready to break ground in the spring.

Next, contact a contractor. Look through our own extensive contractor offerings. The best contractors usually get booked in January, so look now to acquire the professional resources that will help you achieve the changes of your dreams. Then you will be happily renovated, and able to focus on other things—like perfecting that water ski slalom.
