5 Biggest eyesores you notice in other people’s yards

Most of us have to admit that we notice things about other people and their homes that we definitely tend to be more forgiving of in our own lives. Take for example when shopping for a new home. Every blemish and imperfection is glaringly obvious to you, but after you move in and get comfortable, you become a little less discerning than before. There are certain eyesores, however, that just can’t be ignored. Ready for the big five countdown?
- Appliances-Okay, so it’s convenient not to have to walk inside for another beer, but a fridge or other appliance anywhere outside of your kitchen or garage is simply wrong.
- Broken-down vehicles-I have the misfortune of staring at this right now in my neighbor’s front yard. I know it’s an old classic that is probably worth money, but it looks awful propped up on blocks with the tires missing.
- Indoor furniture-there is no way around this. No matter how nice of condition your comfortable recliner is, it looks bad adorning your front porch. Just break down and buy a front porch swing.
- Trash-this is all inclusive and can include everything from household trash to old building materials, children’s toys tossed about, or too much accumulation of junk.
- Clothesline-my mother would be disapproving to hear me say this as she spent countless hours patiently hanging clothes, but a clothesline definitely looks trashy from the street. I know it is more energy efficient, but just try to keep it out of sight!
In addition to large items that simply don’t belong, overgrown, unkempt yards really draw attention as well. Just some simple maintenance on the house and yard can go a long way. Request free estimates from pre-screened general or landscaping contractors in your area to fix the little eyesores around your home.
