Before You Move, Evaluate Neighborhood Safety

Where we raise our kids is an important decision for American parents. When shopping for your new home, there are resources to help you research the safety of the neighborhood so you can ensure your family is as protected as possible. Many realtors assist you in finding this data, but if not, here are some suggestions for how to do your own detective work. (more…)
My neighborhood is dotted with a melting pot of homes from various time periods and design styles. There are many like ours with the early 20th century charm, a few built in the modern oversized style, and then a handful of those whose plain rectangle-like bodies with barely pitched roofs just say “I was built in the 50s.” One of the most defining characteristics of these homes is their different roof pitches. Not always, but in many cases, the roof pitch helps to determine what type of ceilings the interior of the house will have.
Gone are the days of bidding wars where you literally had buyers tripping over themselves trying to win your home. As a homeowner trying to market your home in the current market, you are faced with a situation that couldn’t be more the opposite. We have had our home on the market for a month now, and although several people have stopped to take flyers, we have yet to have one showing. So why are so many people interested but simply just tire kicking? In consulting with our realtor, it appears to be a combination of factors.
