Pretty as a Picture Frame: 5 Bathroom Backsplash Ideas
From Lynn on February 16th, 2010 in Bathroom Remodel
As unappealing as it may be, a bathroom needs a backsplash just as much as a kitchen does (think toothpaste splatters and hairspray messes). Sure, a bathroom mirror works well, but HGTV’s got some neat ideas for bathroom backsplashes, and we’re always on the lookout for new twists on the same-old, same-old.

#1 – Here, the wall behind the sink gets a coat of differently colored paint, which is then shielded by glass for an easy-to-clean surface. The light colors, shiny surfaces and simple hardware create a spa-like atmosphere.

#2 – This tiny space has huge impact, defying water stains with a beautiful wrap-around, ceiling-height tile mosaic in dramatic dark tones.

#3 – How apropos to use resin-encased pebbles around the basin. The designer streamlined the look by extending the pebbles to the wall behind it as well.

#4 – This look takes the backsplash even farther by doing up an entire wall with pastel and metal-colored tiles…

#5 – … while this bath goes minimalist with just a tiled trim around the mirror for a pretty-as-a-picture framed effect.
From travertine to glass, you can use an array of materials in small quantities or big formats to create a functional backsplash that gets lots of style points.
