What are replacement window kits?

A window replacement kit is the do-it-yourself solution to installing new windows. Instead of wholly new windows, a replacement kit comes with new window sashes and a host of other components that in the end will comprise a new window. These typically include mounting brackets (for vinyl versions), new stops and stop-strips, weatherstripping, jamb liners, foam gaskets, casing and upper and lower sashes.  

Window replacement kits allow you to upgrade windows with any re-framing or major remodeling. Simply disassemble the old windows and insert the new. Kits are available for any kind of window frame. Most major window companies manufacture replacement windows. And remember that there is a definite process that must be followed for proper installation, and even if not included with the replacement kit, insulation, caulking and a tight seal should be addressed for energy efficiency and the longevity of the window.
