So the old windows have to go, but which brand or type should take their place?  With some careful consideration of how you will want those windows to look and perform, the decision will almost make itself for you.  You'll need to know what you're willing to pay for the replacements, what styles and design features you would like to have and then you can call Calfinder for a contractor worthy of installing those beautiful warm windows.

There are a few basic design options available:

  • Vinyl boasts the least wear and most attractive price.
  • Aluminum Clad is more or less standard, but can be prone to inefficiency and occasional aesthetic issues.
  • Fiberglass lasts a long time but will be more costly than aluminum.
  • Wood is the most expensive, most beautiful window available.

Also consider how many panes of glass you'll need.  Do you need three panes or the more typical double pane?  This depends on how much noise reduction and energy you are looking to save.

There are many companies available to choose from. Andersen Windows are some of the most expensive and can come with a price tag of up to $1,000 installed.  Vinyl options by companies such as Weather King or Harvey could be installed for as low as $300 per window, depending on your area.  Andersen will come with the best, and often transferable, warranties, whereas vinyl manufacturers may offer very little warranty at all.  Consider how long you'll be living in the house and how important a transferable warranty may be to prospective buyers in the future.

Once you've carefully researched your options and have a good feel for the designs, size, accessories and prices of your top three selections, give us a call. We'll be happy to install them just the way the manufacturer intended.
